New Brunswick Immigration Policy Update 2025: Significant Increase in NBPNP Quota

Trong bối cảnh chính sách định cư mới của Canada năm 2025 cắt giảm mạnh chỉ tiêu trên toàn quốc, New Brunswick lại nổi lên như một điểm sáng hiếm hoi nhờ thành công trong việc thương lượng tăng thêm hạn mức định cư. Đây là cơ hội rất đáng chú ý cho những ai đang tìm kiếm con đường immigrate to Canada thông qua NBPNP Provincial Nominee Program.

New Brunswick adds 1,500 settlement spots for 2025

Recently, the New Brunswick government reached an agreement with the Canadian federal government to increase 1,500 settlement slots in 2025. Accordingly:

This increase is particularly significant, as New Brunswick's quota was previously cut by 50% in February 2025, to just 2,750 slots

The Return Policy: Accept More Refugees

In exchange for increased economic immigration, New Brunswick agreed to accept up to 400 asylum seekers over the next two years. The federal government provides financial support through Interim Housing Assistance Program to help these people settle in their initial accommodation.

In the coming months, New Brunswick will work with federal immigration authorities to meet with groups of refugees already living in Canada and assist them in their transition to the province. Those who agree to move will receive support with:

  • Settlement
  • Integration
  • Search for jobs

Many large companies such as J.D. Irving, Ltd. are also willing to hire these candidates to address local labor shortages.

Priority occupations in the NBPNP program in 2025

With increased quotas, the New Brunswick provincial government continues to prioritize applications in high-demand occupations. Specifically:

1. Canadian medical immigration

  • Doctor
  • Nurse
  • Medical Laboratory Technician
  • Community Health Care Worker

2. Canada education settlement

  • Teachers of all levels
  • School counselor
  • Special Education Support Worker

3. Construction industry

  • Carpenter
  • Electrician
  • Welder
  • Construction machinery operator

4. Some other professions (with limited quantity)

Processing of applications outside priority occupations will be significantly limited in 2025 as New Brunswick focuses resources on sectors with severe labour shortages.

Chính sách định cư mới của Canada 2025: Toàn cảnh cắt giảm mạnh trên toàn quốc

Besides the good news from New Brunswick, most other provinces in Canada are facing a sharp reduction in immigration quotas. Specifically:

  • Newfoundland and Labrador: The quota was increased to 2,525 places after successful negotiations, from the initial quota of only 1,050 places.
  • Ontario: The quota was cut to 10,750 places, down nearly 50% compared to 21,500 places in 2024.
  • British Columbia: Reduced from 8,000 to only 4,000. Many PNP categories have been closed, the number of applications for review in 2025 is only 1,100 sets.

This massive cut is part of a new immigration policy roadmap announced in Immigration Levels Plan:

  • November 2023: 120,000 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) slots expected.
  • October 2024: sharp downward adjustment, only 55,000 PNP slots nationwide for 2025.

Why should you take advantage of the opportunity to settle in New Brunswick 2025 right now?

In the context of Canada's tightening immigration quotas, New Brunswick's successful negotiation becomes a rare opportunity for candidates wishing to settle through NBPNP Provincial Nominee Program.

Especially, if you belong to the medical, education, construction or other professions that are in shortage, this is the golden time to prepare your documents and seize the opportunity before the quotas continue to be adjusted in the near future.
